Happy Forth of July week! There’s something going on pretty much every night this week, including (of course) fireworks! Here’s what we think you should check out in Hillsboro this week. Tonight the Hillsboro Hops play the Aquasox right here in town tonight, and the game will be followed by the third largest fireworks display in the city this year. It’s a great excuse to watch a ball game, and watching a ball game is a great excuse to drink beer, so we think you should excuse yourself. Wednesday morning is The Outpost, a free summer drop in activity and lunch program for kids in three different parks: Shute Park, Shadywood Park, and McKinney Park. There are arts, crafts, sports, science, and water fun to be had for youth between 1 and 18 years old, so stop by. Here’s hoping the weather stays nice, regardless of what the forecast says. Tonight at Orenco’s (newly named!) Jerry Willey Plaza there’s Summer Social. There’s free activities for the kids and yoga with wine for the adults, alongside all kinds of other activities. First, drop off your ballots at the library before tomorrow: it’s too late to mail them. After that, here are a bunch of things you can do this week, right here in Hillsboro. There’s a Body Worn Camera Community Forum tonight at the Shute Park Library, between 6:30 and 8pm. The city has a $217,500 Federal grant to purchase cameras, and is looking for feedback from residents about what the program should look like.
