Hillsboro police will wear cameras but getting footage won’t be free
Hillsboro plans to put a camera on every police officer later this year, but if you want to see any footage it’s going to cost you.

Here’s the fee structure for other public records requests, if you want a bit of context. Nothing else is priced out on a per-gigabyte basis like this, and the only other video is $20 for city council meeting DVDs. The $40 per hour price is consistent with current media request rates.
Here’s Robby Hammond, Assistant City Manager, writing to City Council about the structure:
The process for obtaining the video, reviewing and releasing the footage ensuring compliance with Oregon Revised Statutes, and providing in the correct format will incur staff costs as well as material costs. Staff has reviewed the process, as well as other agency charges, to determine the cost for providing this service.
