Watch a time lapse of volunteers building a Hillsboro playground in one day

On Saturday a group of volunteers built an entire playground in one day. It was a lot of fun to take part in, and you can watch it happen in just a minute thanks to this video posted by the city yesterday.

The most important thing to watch is the shade house, at left, which was built by the glorious watermelon group including yours truly. The rest of the playground is pretty cool too, I guess, but for the most part you should be excited about the shade house.

Most of the volunteers were from here in Hillsboro, but plenty came out from Portland and other nearby cities including Tigard. Some even flew in from California. It was a great day with people unifying around a common cause, and I’d like to see more like it.
